Rocky Recreation and Public Fishing Area: is located in northern Floyd County, Near Rome, Georgia, on 5,000 acres owned by Oglethorpe Power Corporation. The area includes two recreation lakes, 559 total acres. Largemouth bass and sunfish are the most common game fish in the lakes; however, channel catfish, black crappie and hybrid white striped bass are also present. Whitehall deer, turkey and waterfowl frequent the area providing visitors an opportunity to observe wildlife in a natural setting. The lakes, with a backdrop of forest ridge lines and Rock Mountain offer visitors a scenic and relaxed setting in which to enjoy fishing, hunting, picnicking, hiking, camping and other outdoor activities.
